NYC Charity Digest

Every Monday, one email listing the charity events coming up over the next three months in Manhattan, Northern New Jersey and the Jersey Shore.

Four sections, in this order

Each issue starts with what needs attention this week, then lays out everything coming up.

Act soon

Events where timing matters now: few tickets left, tickets going on sale within three weeks, a ticket or early-price deadline coming up, or a cancellation or postponement. Sold-out events are left out.

Most popular this season

Well-established fundraisers, each with a sourced reason it draws a crowd, such as attendance or money raised for charity.

Upcoming events, by date

Every event in the next three months, in date order, each with the details described below.

On the radar

Events that have been announced but don't have a date yet, so you can plan ahead.

What every listing tells you

Each detail is read fresh from the organizer's own page every week, so it stays current.

When
The date, day of the week and start time, as the organizer publishes them.
Where
The neighborhood or town. If the organizer doesn't publish an address, only the general area is shown, marked ~.
Tickets
Whether they're on sale, "Few tickets left", or "On sale Mon Oct 20", plus any deadline the page states. A ticket link is included when the organizer publishes one.
Price
Each ticket level the organizer lists, such as "Dining table: $210". If the page shows no price, the digest says "Not published."
Attire
The dress code from the event, ticket or FAQ page. If none is stated, a guess based on the event's format, marked ~.
Vibe
Only the features the page itself describes, such as a seated dinner, a walk-around tasting, a rooftop or live music.
Who benefits
The charity, marked as an IRS-verified 501(c)(3), with a one-line summary of what it says it does.

How we decide what's included

Tastings, dinners and benefits

Tastings, wine and cocktail events, chef dinners, brunches, barbecues and similar fundraisers. Lunch and luncheon events are left out.

Verified charities only

Every charity must be a registered 501(c)(3) according to IRS records, and is checked again every week. An event that benefits a charity that fails the check is left out.

The organizer's facts

Dates, prices, venues, ticket links and ticket status come from each organizer's own pages. If a page doesn't publish something, the digest says so instead of guessing.

Estimates are marked

Anything the organizer hasn't stated carries a ~, so you can tell a fact from a guess.

The digest covers Manhattan, Northern New Jersey and the Jersey Shore. It doesn't cover Brooklyn, Queens, Long Island, the Bronx, Staten Island or Westchester.
