Our Backstory

The Buddy Poole Foundation was established in 2007 to honor the memory and continue the philanthropic legacy of Theodore "Buddy" Poole and Claire Poole, beloved residents of Tenafly, New Jersey.

Theodore "Buddy" Poole

Theodore "Buddy" Poole was a devoted family man, community member, and philanthropist who touched the lives of everyone he met. Known affectionately as "Buddy" to his family and friends, he embodied the values of generosity, compassion, and service to others.

A longtime resident of Tenafly, New Jersey, Buddy believed deeply in giving back to the community and supporting causes that made a difference in people's lives. His warm spirit and dedication to helping others left an indelible mark on all who knew him.

Buddy passed away in November 2006, but his legacy of kindness and philanthropy lives on through the foundation that bears his name. The Buddy Poole Foundation was established the following year to ensure that his commitment to charitable giving would continue to benefit organizations and causes he cared about.

Claire Poole

Claire Poole was a loving wife, devoted mother, and pillar of her community. Together with her husband Buddy, she shared a deep commitment to family and a passion for supporting charitable causes.

Claire's warmth, grace, and generosity touched the lives of countless people throughout her years in Tenafly, New Jersey. She believed in the importance of community involvement and instilled these values in her family.

Her legacy, alongside Buddy's, continues to inspire the foundation's work today. The values she championed—compassion, generosity, and dedication to making a difference—remain at the heart of everything the Buddy Poole Foundation does.
